Many countries have many religions. Kenya is no different. The majority of Kenyans claim to be Christian. I would say that the Christianity of Kenya is much like that of America’s. The typical response of the Kenyan when asked if he is saved is: “I am saved, but I do not go to church.” I have found that when you dig a little deeper with them, you will find that they are not saved at all.
There are many types of churches preaching many things in Kenya. The majority of preachers in Kenya preach a “Health and Wealth” gospel. They preach that the blessings of God are financial and that if you are right with God you will be rich. Also they preach that if you have not spoke in tongues then you are not saved.
Many preachers also try to mix African Spiritualism with Christianity. They hold services in Southern Baptist Churches where they cast demons out of people’s homes, clothes, and children if you pay the preacher a certain amount of money.
Also, the Roman Catholics teach that as long as you are Catholic, then you will make it to Heaven.
The main problem in Kenya is not the lack of religion, it is the lack of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There are very few churches that preach that ye must be born again. I would say that at least 90% of all Kenyans are unsaved. This is why we must reach the country of Kenya while there is still time.
